Mares Sánchez is a Venezuelan-born dance artist and educator who recently relocated to Orlando after a performance and teaching career in New Orleans, Louisiana. She received her early training on scholarship at renowned schools in Venezuela and holds a Master’s degree in Dance from Florida State University in Dance Studies and Related Forms, where she presented her thesis on Afro-Venezuelan dance forms at the Florida State Capitol. A certified Progressing Ballet Technique instructor, Mares has taught Ballet and Contemporary technique at the university level and national dance programs across the U.S.

While in New Orleans, she performed with the Marigny Opera Ballet for two seasons, working with acclaimed choreographers such as Cassi Abranches and Christian Denice, and appeared in collaborations with New Orleans Ballet Theatre and the New Orleans Museum of Art. Now in Orlando, Mares is eager to contribute to the local dance landscape—both as an artist and educator—while building meaningful connections within the community.
